Be warned ZIN members...2014 Zumba Zin agreement changes!

This just happened to me now inJanuary 2014 when I tried to cancel my ZIN until I am working and can AFFORD to pay the $30 month again.

They said to cancel will now cost you $175 REjoining fee! Even if you rejoin within 12 months. So things have changed!

The only option is to STILL pay $9 a month to have your ZIN account "on hold"

Your credit card will be billed $9 for each month your account is on Hold. You may now opt out of membership for a total of 6 months in a 3 year period!

Once your account has been reactivated and is in good standing for 6 months, the payments that you made while on Hold will be credited towards future membership dues they say...

Not happy with these new changes and may opt out of zumba altogether. I feel like it is like blackmail when I least need it as I am so broke and have invested so much in clothing and zumba equip but can't afford to pay for ZIN now or in the next few months.

That's B.S I would rather take private classes, much cheaper than ZIN. It's a ripoff.

I agree that the Zin is main the revenue for Zumba. Why everyone pass one-day zumba instructor training with zero fail rate?

It's to make sure Zumba's customers (i.e. Zumba instructors) will sign up for Zin life-time membership. It doesn't make any senses to re-sit the Zumba training if everyone will pass it anyway. It s just purely for revenue purpose.

When I had Zumba training, I was not aware that there is a requirement to sign up Zin in order to delivery Zumba classes. The only reason that I have signed up Zin is that they offer music. The true is that who wants to pay $30-40 to buy music per month. We have no time to learn all Zin music/ stuffs.

I have cancelled my Zin a few years ago. Go to YouTube is better &free.

People might think that Zumba makes a lot money from Zin membership fees and trainings. Instructors might consider to run 'hip hop fitness / Dance fitness' classes with zero cost.

It's a money pit..especially if you are an experience instructor. I've been teaching since 2009.

The music and routines they send are not good. You can create your own routines and music. You are not a zombie, you can create routines yourself. The clothing is not good quality, it looks ridiculous on some-ok.

Chiropractic are making tons of money off of Zumba class injuries. Save your money for something else maybe something that inspires people to move that's what it's all about.

I like what the person said- rip off.

That's true, I decided to take ballroom dancing lessons at a studio with professional instructors. Much better than watch a *** video Kkk.

And you can pretty much pick out the songs you want. I don't want anything to do with ZIN, they are a bunch of greedy people, trying to make money out of those *** CDs. Besides, ZUMBA isn't hot anymore.

I'm Brazilian, I definitely know how to dance. No need for that *** ZIN ***.

I thought I had cancelled my membership last month. I had a phone call saying I had to pay for last month and then the cancellation would be effective.

I did. Now I have had an alert from my bank that an international transaction had failed. Zumba had tried to take this months payment.

Their mistake... but don't know who to contact to sort it out.

It's now October 2014 and I went through the exact same thing. The CD's and DVD's are helpful for new Zumba instructors that may need help with choreography and music, but I've been a ZIN member for 3 years now and haven't really been using any of the music or routines, and I haven't bought any Zumba clothes in a good while.

When I went online to cancel on the Zumba website, you pretty much have to call Customer Service, which mean's you have to talk to someone. They talked to me for a good 20 minutes trying to get me to keep my membership. It's best for me to renew my license on a yearly basis and cheaper as well. The ZIN membership fee used to be $30 a month ($360 a year).

The price has now changed to $34.95 a month ($419 a year). I feel like when you attend your Zumba certification training, the instructor's aren't telling you everything about the ZIN membership program. Yes, you get music and choreography every month, and yes you get a discount on the Zumba attire (at times it's still pricey) but I feel that if you want to cancel your ZIN membership, you should be able to do so without all the different penalties. I signed up to renew my license thinking that it would be cheaper and better for me, but later thought cancelling it all together.

The class isn't until November, but if I chose to cancel, there's a $25.00 cancellation fee (THAT'S RIDICULOUS!) and $15.00 convenience fee. I pretty much cancelled within a months time and they still won't reimburse me my entire money. Either way, Zumba will still get your money. So not happy.

New Zumba instructors BEWARE, and I strongly advise that you think long and hard before doing a monthly membership.

Funny, I gave up ZIN and instructing about a year ago and I still get emails and phone calls asking me to come back. Most recently they were reducing the $175 fee (I think by half).

I actually thought about coming back but in my opinion the ZIN fee is unreasonable for the "casual" instructor (i.e. someone who is only teaching 1-2 classes per week). Personally, I never used the supplied routines and rarely used any of the music (I have friends from Mexico and Peru who were able to recommend better songs). So I didn't benefit from the discs they sent, and I barely made enough to cover by ZIN fees or the annual instructor courses (which also permit you to instruct for 12 mos).

It's a money pit. :roll
